Support package launched for staff affected by Telford firm closure

Telford & Wrekin Council is reaching out to former employees of Precision Colour Printing after it fell into administration

Telford & Wrekin Council is offering support to employees affected by the closure of Precision Colour Printing.

The publishing firm in Telford produced magazines, catalogues and brochures but administrators from Alvarez & Marsal were appointed at the end of August to run the company.

The move came after it experienced increasing financial pressure and unrest following a series of buyouts in recent years.

Administrators were hoping to find a buyer for the beleaguered business based on Halesfield but announced two weeks ago that their search had proved unsuccessful, resulting in around 160 job losses.

The council said it was working with partners to ensure those impacted were aware of the practical support available to help them move into new employment, training or reskilling opportunities as quickly as possible.

The authority's Skills for Growth Partnership can work directly with businesses and affected employees to provide tailored support including access to training, careers advice and introductions to those recruiting.

Employers looking to fill vacancies are also encouraged to contact the team. Free assistance is also available through the Telford Job Box which includes help with CV writing, interview preparation, job searching and applications.

The service operates as a drop in at Southwater One next to Telford Ice Rink from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday or by calling 01952 382888. The Skills for Growth Partnership can be contacted on email [email protected].

Cllr Shirley Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council's employment chief, said: "This will be deeply upsetting news for the employees, families and wider community affected by the closure of Precision Colour Printing.

"We understand the uncertainty that redundancy can bring and want people to know that support is available. Whether someone needs help finding a new job, updating their skills or exploring training opportunities, our teams are ready to provide one to one support and practical advice.

"Telford has a strong and resilient business community, with employers across a range of sectors continuing to recruit.

"We are committed to helping those affected take their next steps with confidence and access the opportunities available in our borough."
