Stretch of former Shropshire railway line for sale for £850,000
Passenger services ended in 1963
A piece of Shropshire’s railway heritage is up for sale, as a stretch of former railway line near Telford goes on the market.
The three‑acre plot in Crudgington, north of Telford, once housed part of the Wellington and Drayton Railway line, operated by the Great Western Railway.
Crudgington station opened in 1867, with passenger services ending in 1963 and freight operations continuing until 1967.

The land, now mostly used for storage, still carries the imprint of its industrial past. The site is now being marketed by Andrew Dixon, with a guide price of £850,000.
A spokesperson for Andrew Dixon said the site’s former railway use “provides commercial character and offer potential for a range of operational requirements”.

The listing continues: “The site also benefits from a detached single-storey building providing undercover storage and potential for a workshop and office accommodation.
“From a commercial property perspective, the property offers an opportunity for strategic road connectivity and potential yard capacity, making the property particularly suitable for businesses seeking open storage, HGV and commercial vehicle parking, haulage or other land-intensive operational uses, subject to planning and relevant statutory consents.”
