14-mile diversion planned for 18-day closure of South Shropshire road
The road will be closed for 24-hours a day during the work.
A 14-mile diversion will be in place for 18 days while council workers repair a retaining wall.
Shropshire Council said the work could be taking place on the the C6208 in South Shropshire, which will be closed from July 13 to 31.
The route will be shut 24 hours a day from the A488 at New Invention to the Lower Lye Junction – with a diversion in place.
A spokesman for the council said: “The scheme will involve the removal of the collapsed retaining wall, construction of a new concrete footing, rebuilding of the retaining wall, installation of parapet fencing, and reinstatement of the highway verge and carriageway.

“To carry out the work safely, it will be necessary to close the road to vehicular traffic on a 24-hour basis for the duration of the works.
“Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available throughout the works, although access to properties will be maintained up to the closure points.
“We appreciate that these works may cause some disruption and apologise in advance for any inconvenience. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption wherever possible.”
The work will be undertaken by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor, Kier, with supervision provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
Advance warning signs will be installed on site, and information letters will be distributed to local residents.
