Popular Shropshire pub and restaurant announces ANPR cameras for car park

The venue thanked its customers for their understanding and co-operation.

A popular pub, restaurant, wedding and function venue has announced the installation of ANPR cameras in its car park.

The Punchbowl Inn and Restaurant, on Ludlow Road at Bridgnorth, revealed the news on social media - and the reasons behind the move.

The venue said that its decision came after attempted burglaries and checking CCTV and seeing the car park being used for ‘extra-curricular activities’.

In a post on its Facebook page the pub said: “From this evening, we will be introducing live ANPR cameras in our car park.

“This decision has been made following a couple of attempted break-ins.

“After reviewing our CCTV, it became clear that the car park has also been used as a meeting spot and for… let’s say, “extra-curricular activities.” As a reminder, we do offer discounted room rates when booked directly.”

It added: “Going forward, all customers will need to enter their vehicle registration before exiting the building.

“There will be both a self-service station and a staffed station available to assist anyone who needs help.

“This additional measure is designed to enhance security and help keep both you and your vehicles safe.

“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
