Shop in Shrewsbury and you could win £250
A new campaign launches this weekend to support the town's retailers with a range of prizes on offer
Shrewsbury residents are being urged to back their town centre shops this month in a new campaign - and could win cash and other prizes at the same time.
The month-long 'Shop Shrewsbury' initiative launches this weekend and aims to highlight the benefits of supporting the county town's retailers instead of buying goods online.
It follows on from the ‘shop local’ campaign held in the run up to last Christmas but this time the prizes on offer include £250 cash to spend in Shrewsbury, a luxury skincare experience for two and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Shrewsbury Business Improvement District has relaunched the campaign for the summer with new colourful branding, town wayfinders have been decorated and a limited number of special tote bags are available to collect.
To take part, shoppers need to pick up a free sticker book from Shrewsbury Museum or any participating business and collect a sticker and signature every time they spend £10 or more with a participating retailer.

They will then be entered into a prize draw if they collect five stickers before the end of July and send a photo of their completed book to Shrewsbury BID.
A range of local businesses have donated prizes and vouchers to the prize pool and many are also running special offers or discounts throughout the campaign. A list and map of participating businesses is available on the Original Shrewsbury website.
The BID said Shrewsbury's high streets continued to perform well above the national average.
Wyle Cop was named Britain's Best High Street by The Telegraph twice while Shrewsbury won Britain's Most Perfect Market Town in 2025.
Data from Beauclair shows that 51 per cent of customer spend in the town goes to independent retailers, compared to a UK average of just 29 per cent.
Seb Slater, executive director of Shrewsbury BID, said: "The success of our town centre is the result of hundreds of business owners and managers putting in long hours, year after year, to make Shrewsbury a town centre people genuinely want to spend time and money in.
"You can see that energy when you look at how many businesses have got behind this year's Shop Shrewsbury campaign, donating some brilliant prizes for shoppers to win and displaying our campaign materials in their windows.
"It shows the level of pride local businesses feel for our town. We're excited to see even more people get out and discover just how great our high streets are this month."
Pollyanna Williams, owner of independent lifestyle shop Snoop in Wyle Cop, added: "This campaign really encapsulates what magic Shrewsbury has to offer.
"With increasing costs for all businesses at the moment, what better way than to encourage customers into local shops than to give them something back for supporting us?
"We're so grateful to all our customers for supporting Snoop and the rest of the wonderful independents here - we really are very lucky."
