Telford planning: New children’s home operator, drive-thru coffee shop and homes approved
Decisions also include approval for a coffee shop in Madeley and the withdrawal of a two-storey HMO for 10 people in Wellington
Officials have approved a change in the organisation that runs a Telford children's home and the way it is managed.
Utopia Childcare has been given approval to take over the property in Bartlett Road, Dawley from Nurtured Future Living and reduce the number of children being cared for from four to two.
Telford & Wrekin Council officials imposed a personal condition on the operator. If it is sold to a new operator they would have to apply for permission.
"Whilst officers consider the way the proposed operators are proposing on running the home is acceptable, if the property was to be sold to a different care provider, the use could intensify which may not be suitable for the site," officials wrote.
"Therefore, officers consider it necessary to impose a personal condition, giving permission only for the benefit of Utopia Childcare."
They added that its use would be comparable to a residential dwelling and "there will not be any significant impact on neighbouring properties”.
