Resignation creates vacancy on parish council in Shropshire

Ten electors in the parish have until Friday, October 30 to call for an election to be held to fill the vacancy.

A councillor’s resignation has created a vacancy on a parish council in rural Telford & Wrekin.

Helen Tilston resigned from Rodington Parish Council on October 7 because of ‘pressures of time’.

“I enjoyed my time and could go back in future, that’s how we left it,” she said.

Ten electors in the parish have until Friday, October 30 to call for an election to be held to fill the vacancy.

If a request to hold an election is not received the parish council must then co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

Requests to hold an election must be sent to the Returning Officer at the Electoral Services Office, Darby House, Telford & Wrekin Council, Lawn Central, Telford TF3 4JA.

The number for further guidance is (01952) 381889.
