Powys man found dead at home after neighbour raised the alarm
A Powys man was found dead at home after a neighbour raised the alarm after he was not seen for days.
Timothy Jaap Besseling was found deceased at his home at Heol Maengwyn, Machynlleth on June 18 2025.
An inquest was opened into his death on July 31 2025 but it was adjourned for further investigations.
It was resumed at Pontpridd Coroner's Court on August 27 when His Majesty's Coroner Patricia Morgan in the South Wales Central Coroner Area heard the evidence.
She heard Mr Timothy Jaap Besseling had a past medical history that included schizophrenia for which he was prescribed medication to help manage, and hypertension.
He had patchy engagement with health services over the years.
On June 18 2025, a neighbour alerted Mr Besseling's landlord to Mr Besseling not having been seen for a number of days.
Entry to Flat 5, 2 and 4 Heol Maengwyn, Machynlleth, Powys was gained where Mr Besseling was discovered deceased.
A post mortem examination was unable to establish an exact cause for Mr Besseling's death due to the extent of decomposition.
Ms Morgan gave a medical cause of death as unascertained and she recorded an open conclusion.
Mr Besseling was born on February 1 1963 and he lived at Heol Maengwyn, Machynlleth.
