Returning on November 27–29, the festival promises to fill the town with three days of festive cheer

Ludlow is set to shine once again as the Ludlow Winter Festival returns in November, with farmers and the rural community celebrated at this year’s event.

Returning on November 27–29, the festival promises to fill the town with three days of festive cheer, music, food, family activities, and magical winter moments.

With a sparkling programme stretching across the town, from Ludlow Castle and Events Square to St Laurence’s Church and Ludlow Brewery, this year’s festival brings exciting new additions alongside much‑loved favourites.

Anchored by the festival’s 2026 signature theme ‘Where winter nights meet countryside lights’ this year’s event carries a deeper resonance. After a difficult year for farmers and local producers, shaped by extreme weather and climate pressures, the 2026 festival celebrates the strength and spirit of Ludlow’s rural community.

The theme reflects the bond between town and countryside, shining a light on the people who grow, make and sustain so much of what Ludlow is known for.

The festival begins on Friday, November 27 with late-night shopping across Ludlow’s independent retailers, inviting visitors to enjoy extended hours, festive delights, and seasonal offers from the town’s much‑loved high street businesses.

As evening falls, St Laurence’s Church opens its doors for a lively night of music, pizza and a festive bar, transforming the historic space into a warm gathering point filled with community spirit. In Castle Gardens, the Rotary Club Tree of Light is illuminated by the Mayor of Ludlow, offering a moment of reflection and remembrance.

Soon after, the much‑anticipated Orleton YFC Tractor Run rolls into Ludlow — a joyful, noisy, brilliantly lit procession that celebrates the farming community and symbolises the bond between town and countryside.

Slightly away from the square, Ludlow Brewery adds sparkle to the night with a lively Waterloo ABBA tribute (ticketed event), giving festival‑goers a chance to dance, sing and start the weekend with energy.

Saturday, November 28 sees Ludlow at its most vibrant, with festive events unfolding across multiple venues. The Christmas Fair at the Methodist Church and Winter Craft Fair at St Laurence’s Church (admission donation) bring stalls of handmade gifts, seasonal crafts, local produce and artisan creations to the town, offering perfect opportunities for thoughtful Christmas shopping.

This year welcomes a brand-new attraction: the Slow Food Christmas Fiesta, a free event held in the atmospheric grounds of Ludlow Castle. Running 10am – 6pm on Saturday, the fiesta showcases artisan producers, seasonal flavours, free talks, and winter inspired demonstrations celebrating Ludlow’s renowned food culture.

On Events Square (outside Ludlow College), ‘Christmas on the Square’ begins at midday, filling the space with live performances from the Ludlow Concert Band, Mimi Heart, Stephen Russell, Kurt Bray, and special appearances from the panto cast and Insteps Dance. The atmosphere builds throughout the afternoon as families gather for music, dance and festive entertainment.

At Ludlow College, children can meet Father Christmas in his grotto from 2–4pm, receive a free present and enjoy a magical moment in a cosy, welcoming setting.

As dusk approaches, crowds gather for the Christmas Lights switch-on at 5.30pm, hosted by Sunshine Radio and featuring a special guest. The switch‑on transforms the town into a sparkling winter scene, marking one of the most anticipated moments of the festival weekend.

The festival rounds off on Sunday with a relaxed, family‑friendly day in Events Square, featuring market and street food, live music from JB Disco and local favourite Macy O, performance from GKY Dance, children’s rides and hands‑on crafting activities. It’s a gentle, joyful finale designed for all ages, offering plenty of opportunities to eat, explore and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
