A 42-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured during an assault in Hereford.

West Mercia Police officers were called to the scene on Commercial Street at around 7pm yesterday (August 27) after a man in his 50s was punched and suffered a head injury after he hit the floor.

A 42-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is in police custody.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains.

The force is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. They are also keen to see dashcam footage which may have captured the assault from passing vehicles.
