'It was brilliant, now go and get behind them!' - MP reacts to AFC Telford United's promotion
An MP has hailed AFC Telford United's promotion success and encouraged residents to get behind them in their numbers next season.
Telford secured promotion to the National League North in magical style with a 4-2 comeback play-off final victory at Kettering Town on Monday (May 5).
It came 364 days after they agonisingly missed out on promotion, losing to Leamington in last season's play-off final.
Each goal was celebrated passionately by members of the Bucks board including Shropshire-born Hollywood producer Chris Ball who is a minority investor.

Telford MP Shaun Davies watched the game at home with his son and was over the moon with the result.
"I was delighted to see Telford promoted," he said. "Obviously it was at the second time of asking, but we did it in style with the 4-2 win that meant we didn't have those nervous moments at the end of the game.
"It was very clear that Kettering's defence was not great and to see Telford maximise on that was great.

"It is really big for the club because we are now back to the National League North and we all pray now that they can consolidate and then push on to reach the National League again, that would be the absolute dream."
More than 1,000 supporters watched the triumph from Telford's SEAH Stadium in Wellington.
With Telford returning to the National League North - step two non-league football and the sixth tier of English football - the MP has urged residents to turn out in their numbers next season.
Mr Davies added: "Full credit to Telford & Wrekin Council for making the watch-along happen, there were around 1,000 people there watching it.

"I was able to watch some of the stream with my son and it was brilliant to do that together.
"I think it is really important for our town. What I would now say is, I know a lot of people, me included, support Premier League teams and Championship teams but go and spend a little bit of money and time at Telford next season and get behind the Bucks."
