Grants of up to £5,000 available from Shropshire town council

The awards are worth up to £5,000

A town council has opened up its annual grant applications.

Ludlow Town Council is inviting applications for the 2027/28 annual core grant funding - awards that support local organisations whose work benefits residents across Ludlow.

The council said: “Local groups can apply for grants of up to £5,000, designed to strengthen community activity, enhance local wellbeing, and help organisations deliver work streams that make a meaningful difference.

“Applications are assessed at October’s full council meeting against the council’s published criteria, ensuring public funds are distributed responsibly and support organisations with clear aims and community benefit.”

Town clerk Gina Wilding highlighted the value of the scheme said: “Our core grants play a vital role in supporting the organisations that enrich life in Ludlow. We encourage all eligible groups to apply and continue the fantastic work they do for our community.”

Applications for the 2027/28 core grants close at 4pm on Friday, October 9.

Alongside the annual core grants, Ludlow Town Council also offers project support grants, available all year round for organisations seeking funding for specific initiatives.

The grants provide up to £1,000 per project, and groups receiving a core grant may also apply for up to two project support grants within the same year.

Full criteria, guidance, and application forms for both funding streams are available online.
