Garage contents destroyed by blaze in Newport home

The fire broke out at around 9.30am on Monday

Shropshire firefighters said the contents of a domestic garage had been half-destroyed after a blaze broke out on Monday.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Plough Lane in Newport at around 9.30am on Monday, July 20, after reports of a house fire.

Two crews were sent to the incident from Newport and Wellington fire stations.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported the incident was a “small fire” in an integrated garage attached to a domestic property and involved “power tools, resulting in the destruction of 50 per cent of the garage contents”.

The blaze was extinguished using a hose reel jet and firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots within the affected and adjacent properties.
