A road was closed for almost three hours following a four-vehicle crash.

The A518 Telford to Newport road was sealed off near Lilleshall, close to the Red House roundabout, following the collision shortly before 5pm yesterday.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said three cars and a Ford Transit van were involved and all the drivers and passengers had managed to get out of the vehicles by the time they arrived.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said one person suffered neck pain but nobody needed to go to hospital.

Meanwhile, motorists faced hold-ups near Shrewsbury today when two cars collided on the A5 bypass.

One lane of the dual carriageway was closed near the Emstrey Island at 8.20am for about 15 minutes.

Richard Ewels, West Mercia Police spokesman, said: "Two cars collided on bypass near the Emstrey Island.

"Nobody was injured and one lane was closed for a short time while recovery of the vehicles was arranged."
