Fire crews battle straw bales blaze in Shropshire countryside
Crews worked to tackle a blaze started among straw bales in the Shropshire countryside.
Fire crews from four stations across Shropshire were called into action after reports of straw bales on fire.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a barn fire on Loughton in Burwarton just after 4pm, with five appliances heading to the scene from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms and Ludlow.
They arrived to find 50 straw bales alight outside of a barn and used breathing apparatus (BA), a covering jet, a drag rake, a hosereel jet, and a main jet to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said: “50 straw bales were alight outside of barn and in bays of silage pit. Assistance was given from farm machinery.”
