Disruption after overturned vehicle partially closes road on major route

Motorists are facing major disruption this evening after a vehicle overturned on a main road.

Traffic Wales has reported that the southbound A483/A5 has been shut at the junction for Halton, immediately at the end of the Chirk bypass north of Oswestry.

Significant delays have been reported in the area, with drivers warned to avoid the area and emergency services on the scene.

In a post on social media Traffic Wales said: “The A483 Junction 1 Ruabon to Halton roundabout travelling southbound now closed due to an overturned vehicle.

“Expect delays if you're travelling in the area. Emergency services are on scene.”

North Wales Police has also urged drivers to avoid the area.

A spokesman said: “The A5 at Junction 1, Halton roundabout in Chirk is currently closed in the southbound direction due to an overturned wagon. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes whilst emergency services are in attendance.”
