Discount store set to open in town’s former Original Factory Shop

The Original Factory Shop in Leominster’s Broad Street closed in April.

A discount store is opening in a border town’s Original Factory Shop unit, left vacant following the collapse of the UK chain.

The Original Factory Shop in Leominster’s Broad Street closed in April after the nationwide chain called in the administrators.

Now another UK-wide discount store is preparing to take over the former unit.

TJ Hughes, which has around 16 stores across the UK, is opening in the Leominster unit in October.

Jason Harmer, COO of TJ Hughes, which sells a wide selection of products, including fashion, footwear, beauty, home appliances, pet care and general everyday goods, said: “This represents an important step for us. Leominster is a fantastic location combining an established town-centre shopping environment and significant visitor footfall from the surrounding Herefordshire area.

“We are opening in a site that has served the town well for several years so we believe this move will be good for both the town and for our brand.

"Coming to Leominster, which is a new location for our brand, is something we’re really excited about. We are recruiting 10 members of staff for the new store, and this move is part of the broader growth of the TJ Hughes estate.”
