Arriva's London rail bid refused

A train company which put in a bid to run a direct service from Shropshire to London has had its application turned down by rail regulators.
The Office of Rail Regulation today announced it had rejected the Arriva Trains Wales application to run two daily direct services between Aberystwyth and London Marylebone.
The service would have stopped in Shrewsbury and would have rivalled train company Wrexham & Shropshire's service from the county to the capital.
