Why this beautiful West Midlands country park with lakeside walks is the perfect place to visit this weekend
I visited a beautiful country park in the West Midlands on a stunning sunny day - and it was the perfect day out.
I visited Coombe Abbey Country Park located on the outskirts of Coventry on a day where the sun was blazing and there were no clouds in sight.
It was a very hot day and there were hundreds of people walking around the grounds, having picnics, playing football and having a nice time.
It is the perfect place to visit this weekend while the temperatures are still warm and above 20C. There are plenty of shady spots, plenty in the sunshine and you get beautiful views of the Grade I listed, 12th-century Cistercian abbey that has been turned into a country hotel.
There are beautiful gardens, woodland, and lakeside walks where there are geese, ducks and swans.

It’s a great place for children as there is Go Ape, plenty of space to play, and also a play area.
There is a cafe selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, as well as ice cream vans - so you won’t go hungry or thirsty while you are there for the day.
The woodland is nice and shaded and you can enjoy a circular walk around, stopping off at bird-watching huts on the way.
You can use the accessible bird hides to spot kingfishers, mute swans, and grey herons. You can also feed the ducks and swans, or spot muntjac deer, bats, and other woodland wildlife.
I spotted a swan with four little cygnets swimming along and it was very cute!
The views around the park are beautiful, and even better on a lovely sunny day.
It is the perfect escape for nature walks, wildlife spotting, and family days out.
There is even a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) within the woodland that features ancient trees, a wildflower meadow and the region's largest heronry.
I spotted a couple of herons on the trees above! The park is ideal for all ages and it is truly a lovely day out.
