Steam trains, events, competitions and a miniature railway will all be available for visitors at the Severn Valley Railway this Easter.

The SVR's collection of heritage steam locomotives will be in full steam throughout the holidays, from April 8 to 23, taking visitors on a journey back to the age of steam.

Passengers can hop on and off to explore any of the SVR's six stations or head to The Engine House Visitor Centre, where children can enter a "spot the Easter Bunny" competition, with prizes on offer and the chance to win a family Freedom of the Line ticket.

While there, visitors can see two new exhibitions. The Art of the Railway Poster tells the story of the "big four" railway companies looking for ways to promote train travel to the public, showcasing a range of original posters of the era. Signs of the Times is a display of London Underground and Great Western Railway signs, courtesy of London Transport Museum and Kidderminster Railway Museum.

Visitors can also meet the engine that collided with a camel, learn about how the SVR works and sort the mail in the travelling post office. Children can let off steam on the outdoor, railway-themed play area.

Visitors can take a ride on the Coalyard Miniature Railway at Kidderminster or the Paddock Garden miniature railway at Hampton Loade.

The SVR will then prepare to welcome children's favourites Peppa Pig and George, who will pay a visit to the railway, making appearances at intervals throughout the day on May 6 and 7.
