National honour for Shrewsbury curry house
A Shropshire restaurant has scooped a top prize in a national curry awards.
Café Saffron, in Shrewsbury, was one of 11 curry restaurants to receive official recognition at the 2016 Curry Life Awards, held at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London.
Chef patron Mohammed Azad said: "To win this title is the greatest vote of confidence I could wish for.
"Not just for myself but for my team who work so hard to make things happen at the Café Saffron Restaurant.
"The award will inspire us to keep improving and I'd also like to thank all our customers for their help putting us on the map."
The Curry Life Awards and gala dinner recognised the best 11 best curry restaurants and 24 curry chefs in the UK.
A European best curry chef and lifetime achievements award for a restaurateur who has proved dedicated services to the Curry Industry for 50 years are also included.
