Pop-up fashion shows, dance routines and free styling consultations helped a two-day floral fashion event raise money for charity.

Shrewsbury's Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres hosted a Fashion in Bloom event, combining flowers with fashion for a floral-themed extravaganza featuring models, dancers, family craft activities, style consultations and competitions.

"We had a fantastic couple of days," said Shrewsbury shopping centres manager Kevin Lockwood. "The personal styling sessions were hugely popular and when the sun came out it meant our pop-up fashion shows and dance routines could hit the high street to entertain shoppers.

"Even though all the activity was free, we were asking for donations as part of our fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support – our nominated charity for 2016."

The flower-themed fashion shows and choreographed dance routines featured models bedecked with bouquets, showcasing styles put together by personal stylist Emma Russell.

"Emma is a professional stylist specialising in advising women on the best styles of clothes to suit different body shapes and the best shades of colour to suit individual skin tones," said Kevin.

"She put on an amazing show and we've had so many comments from shoppers who appreciated being able to discuss the new season's styles with such an expert."

Emma and her team also gave a local Macmillan fundraising volunteer a styling and nail pamper session to thank her for all of her hard work.

Helen Knight, fundraising manager for Macmillan in Shropshire, said she was thrilled that event organisers had singled out Megan Jones, of Shrewsbury, for her efforts.

"Like most charities, we rely on the work of our amazing volunteers," said Helen. "Megan does a massive amount of work in the area and gives up an awful lot of her own time, so it was wonderful that Fashion in Bloom was able to make such a fuss of her.

"She was presented with a lovely bunch of flowers and had her own consultation with Emma and her team – it was a great way to thank her."
