Joule's Brewery based in Market Drayton has created a new restorative beer tonic for their customers.

Tonic 37, a double hopped restorative light ale, will be available throughout all the Joule's pubs in the region in the coming days.

And as thousands of people across the region are trying to complete Dry January – a month without alcohol – the company says it hopes the new beer will tempt people back into pubs.

The recipe uses a blend of three malt types and four hop varieties.

The inspiration behind the restorative beer tonic and design comes from the Victorian era.

During this period there were all types of unusual quirky beliefs and cures for individual aliments and the Joule's beer tonic branding has taken a few of the Victorian theories and related them back to the natural ingredients in the restorative light ale.

Trudie Meredith, marketing controller at Joule's Brewery, said: "Our seasonal portfolio over the last two years has been an extremely exciting project for us, and we now have plans in place to have a fuller and even more exciting catalogue for 2016.

"By brewing a series of special editions – known as the seasonal collection, it gives us an opportunity to create specialist beers and also brings life back to our core range. It also shows our passion and dedication to the industry."

To celebrate the introduction of Tonic 37, the Red Lion in Market Drayton is hosting a launch evening on February 12.

The evening will include free sampling and complimentary bar snacks of Joule's sausage rolls.

Joule's sausage rolls are sourced from nearby Fordhall Organic Farm, in Tern Hill, who feed what they call "the Joule's herd of happy pigs" with the spent grain from the brewery and in exchange treat the Joule's pubs to sausage meat weekly.

Joule's has expanded rapidly over the past couple of years, taking on a host of new pubs, including The Fox in Oswestry and The Talbot Inn in Ruyton XI Towns.
