The Railway's Festive Season Services, will be running from Boxing Day to January 3 between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. It follows on from the popular Santa Specials, which have been running in the build-up to Christmas.

Passengers do not need to book in advance for the services, and can stop off at any of the SVR's stations en-route or visit the Engine House Visitor Centre. Santa Herald services have sold out faster than they ever have before – the 32,950 tickets for the 95 services being snapped up before the end of November.

They also mark the end of a ground-breaking 50th anniversary year for the SVR, which featured a jam-packed schedule of special events, including royal visits from HRH The Princess Royal and HRH The Duke of Gloucester, new additions to the calendar including Sounds of the 60s and visits from the world-famous Royal Scot and Tornado.

Clare Gibbard, the SVR's marketing and communications manager, said: "This year has truly been an exceptional one for us – we really have celebrated our Golden Jubilee in style and after our busiest-ever Christmas, what better way to round-off a wonderful 2015 than our lovely Festive Season Services?"

The railway will then close for maintenance work, before reopening for February half-term.
