Published

Hundreds of Santa Clauses will head to Telford this weekend ready to take part in an annual charity fun run.

The ninth Telford Santa Run will take place in Telford Town Park this weekend.

The event will raise money for the RNIB and Guide Dogs UK.

This year has seen a record number of entrants with 250 runners and walkers set to don Santa suits in a bid to take on either a 2km or 5km route around the park.

The event will kick off at 11.30am on Sunday with a warm up by local fitness instructor Jo Burt.

The event is being sponsored this year by the Telford Cycle Experience based in Telford Town Park Visitor Centre and has been organised by the Friends of Telford Town Park with help from Chris Richards and his fellow organisers of the weekly Telford Park Run.

Chris Pettman, chairman of the friends group, said: "We hope many more people will come along on the day and support those who have entered."

He added: "A medal, a mince pie and a warm fruit punch will be offered to all entrants at the finish along with a raffle."

To date, the Friends group has raised over £14,000 for the two charities and it is hoped that this year's run will boost their efforts.
