Revellers rocked out to the sound of folk-rock band Quill, with the addition of Bevan as a permanent member.

Bevan was ELO's drummer during the time that the band sold records by the hundreds of thousands and sold out stadiums around the world.

The 70-year-old musician, who still loves playing live, performed with the Birmingham-based seven-piece country, folk and rock band to a delighted audience.

The group took audience members on an exciting journey with their unique violin influenced interpretations of classics by the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Thin Lizzy.

Bevan, who lives in the Birmingham area, said: "I've been a fan of Quill from the late 1970s and when I needed a female vocalist for my own band I thought of Quill vocalist Joy Strachan-Brain.

"I talked to Joy and suggested that perhaps Quill should feature a percussion player and that is how I got involved with their gigs.

"I still prefer playing drums, but really enjoy playing percussion and it's something I did lots of with ELO and Black Sabbath."

Apart from performing with Quill, Bevan still tours with his Bev Bevan Band and is about to take them on tour with comedian Jasper Carrott on the Stand Up and Rock tour – a show blending stand-up comedy with music.
