The musical is being put on by The Little Theatre in Donnington, Telford, with cast and crew members carrying out final preparations ahead of the opening night next week.

Based on Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, the show tells the story of Oliver, an orphan in London during the 1800s.

The show features well-known songs Consider Yourself, Food Glorious Food and As Long As He Needs Me.

Lionel Barts' Oliver! will be the theatre's fifth show this year and rounds off what organisers have said has been a very successful 2015 season.

Vikki Lee, publicity officer for the show, said everyone was "very excited" for the show start date. It has about 10 Telford youngsters starring in it.

She said: "We are working with 10 youngsters, who are part of Fagin's Gang, and it has been a pleasure to see them bring the music and scenes to life over the rehearsal period.

"They are now very much looking forward to performing in front of an audience.

"We also have a number of new adult members taking some of the lead roles and it's always a pleasure to work with new people."

The shows run between November 5 and 7 at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance on November 7 at 2.30pm. Tickets are from £8, with family tickets – two adults and two children – available from just £25. For more details or to book tickets click here.
