Shropshire vineyard hosts open day

Published

Rodington Vineyard, which was only set up in 2009, opened its doors to allow people to see the vines for themselves – and of course to sample the fruits of their labour.

Jai Chahal, a director of Rodington Vineyard, said the family had been delighted to welcome the public to the event. He said: "It has been great, we have had a really good open day, it has been a fantastic turnout. People got to have a really good look around, the grapes are ripe for cutting to they could see what they were drinking and where it comes from."

Around 100 people visited the vineyard, which also has a shop selling its products, all under the 'Blue Tractor' label – a label chosen as a tribute to the one piece of machinery on the land when Mr Chahal's parents first bought it.

Mr Chahal said there had been a positive reaction from the visitors to Saturday's open day, who were treated to a sample of the wines.

He said: "It was a really positive response and it was great for us to be able to welcome people and show them the vineyard."

Mr Chahal said Tanners have expressed interest in taking their wine, which is also being served at the Tayleur Arms, and sold at the Greenfields Farm Shop in Donnington, Telford.
