Lulu coming to Shrewsbury

The venue will welcome big name stars during the next 12 months.

Lulu will star on March 29, Brian Conley will feature on April 2 and a new production of David Walliams' Gangsta Granny – based on his best-selling children's book – by the Birmingham Stage Company will run from October 12 to 16.

Venue spokesman Pip Bayley said staff at Theatre Severn were excited by the quality of the latest programme and were looking forward to welcoming high-class performers. Tickets for the shows went on sale to Friends of Theatre Severn on Wednesday and went on general sale this morning.

Mr Bayley said there were other highlights on the horizon with a talk from TV survival expert Ray Mears on March 1 and a performance on March 2 by top comic Sean Lock.

Folk icons Fairport Convention are lined up for March 3 while comedian Jenny Eclair will bring her How To Be A Middle Aged Woman (Without Going Insane) tour to Shrewsbury on March 10. Johnny Hates Jazz will also play on March 24.

Lulu will appear on March 29. She will perform hits from throughout her 50-year career such as To Sir With Love, The Man Who Sold The World, Relight My Fire and Shout. She said she was looking forward to playing live in 2016 after a completing a UK tour this year.

"I had so much fun, I've decided to get back out there to do it again in March 2016, and I can't wait," she said.
