Ashley Wilding, who made zombie film 2018: The Virus, from his bedroom, enjoyed seeing it make its debut at Cineworld in Telford.

The 20-year-old made the entire film using his desktop computer, with a team of 10 people over a period of two years, from his home near Shifnal.

The former Telford College student said the film was well received on Monday and that he felt like he was watching a huge blockbuster.

He said: "Seeing my work on the big screen is absolutely incredible – it's almost like watching a blockbuster movie. I really could not imagine this happening, as I have been in my bedroom doing this film for years, so seeing it in the cinema is actually incredible.

Listen to the end title song here:

"About 10 people have been involved in making the film, who are from all over Shropshire. Now this film is complete we are working on making another feature film. Before this one I made another film called Underworld, which we are looking at reviving. Seeing it on the big screen though gives you a different perspective, and it was fantastic being able to see all my characters come to life.

"It really is just . . . I can't say it, I am actually lost for words. I am speechless."

The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has been forced to flee flesh-eating ghouls.

A small resistance group is seeking refuge outside New York hoping to find a cure for the disease.

Ashley said he took inspiration from the likes of 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead to make the debut film.

The film also includes an end title song called The Last Ones, written and performed by guitarist Lara Millard who also lives near Shifnal.
