Welsh guitar virtuoso performs at Wellington blues club
James Oliver to bring unique blend of blues, rock 'n' roll and banter from the Welsh valleys to the Wrekin Inn.
Groundhog Blues Club celebrates the diversity and excellence of British blues, with live music held on the first Thursday of most months at The Wrekin Inn, Wellington. The club was founded in memory of legendary guitarist Tony McPhee, who led British blues-rock pioneers The Groundhogs and lived in the town.

Season Four of the club concludes on Thursday (July 2) when guitar virtuoso James Oliver brings his unique blend of blues, rock 'n' roll and banter from the Welsh valleys to the Wrekin Inn.
A stunning guitarist, James is much more than a blues man. Throughout the evening you will hear him playing the fastest rockabilly, country twang, deepest saddest southern blues, Bill Haley, swing, and yes sometimes almost jazz. Alongside his incredible musicianship James is a consummate entertainer interjecting a healthy dose of audience banter and humour into every performance. Watch out if James attention is drawn towards you, like a terrier he won't let go.
He is one of those BUSY musicians averaging 300 gigs a year in UK, Europe & US. He loves to play and entertain sometimes criss-crossing the UK to perform three gigs in a single day. His hard work has resulted in James gaining a sizeable fanbase with over 22000 followers on YouTube alone as a result of which he has won and been nominated for numerous Blues Awards.
Come on down to The Wrekin Inn and check out a unique performer. Music starts at 7.30pm with a brief support slot from guitar/harmonica duo Rowley & Paul. All this for a voluntary donation of £5.
