Telford singer-songwriter lands UK Country Music Awards honour
Dan Jones was stunned to win Song of the Year with his track One More Whiskey for the Road
A Shropshire-based musician has picked up one of country music's top UK honours after winning Song of the Year at this year's UK Country Music Awards.

Dan Jones, a guitarist and singer-songwriter with a Luke Combs UK tribute act, travelled to Derby for the awards ceremony, where he performed his nominated track, One More Whiskey for the Road.
Later that evening, the song was announced as the winner.
Dan said the result had completely caught him off guard. “I was totally blown away. I did not expect anything,” he said.

"I was just happy to attend the awards and perform my song, but to come away having won the award was just fantastic."
The award adds to a growing catalogue of original music from Dan, who has also released the single Brother of Mine.
Away from performing, he teaches guitar at the Dan Jones Guitar School on Stafford Park, Telford, and works as a specialist music tutor for Telford & Wrekin Music Service in schools across the area.

He also documents his journey as an independent artist online, building a following among fans across the UK, Ireland, the USA and Canada.
The UK Country Music Awards recognise homegrown talent across the country music scene, celebrating songwriting, performance and contributions to the genre.
Dan's win marks a notable achievement for the local music scene and adds another accolade to his career as a performer and songwriter.
