Oswestry cancer group hears how patients can make their voices heard
Members of Oswestry Cancer Buddies heard how Healthwatch Shropshire helps patients share feedback and raise concerns about NHS care
Members of Oswestry Cancer Buddies heard about the role of Healthwatch Shropshire during a talk by the organisation’s community engagement officer, Hannah Davies.

She explained how Healthwatch gathers feedback from people across the county and shares their views with NHS leaders and other decision-makers to help improve health and social care services.
Hannah encouraged anyone who had used a GP, hospital or other health and care service to share their experiences, whether positive or negative.
Healthwatch Shropshire also provides an independent NHS complaints advocacy service for people who are unhappy with the care or treatment they have received.
Hannah said: “Although most people using the health service are happy with their care and treatment, things can sometimes go wrong. If you're not satisfied with the service you've experienced from a hospital, doctor, dentist, local surgery or other NHS provider, you are entitled to complain about it. We're here to help you through this process.”
Linda Lade, founder of Oswestry Cancer Buddies, said: “Everyone’s experience in the NHS is different. Some good and some not so good. When things go haywire and there are things that need to be notified to management and clinicians, then this is a key service.”
