Newport Cottage Care launches accessible minibus thanks to community support
“This bus is far more than just transport”
Newport Cottage Care has taken delivery of a new fully accessible minibus, thanks to generous funding from the Newport League of Friends.

The new vehicle will help transport elderly clients and people living with dementia to and from the charity’s day care facility, ensuring they can continue to access vital support, companionship and activities.
The previous minibus had served the community for many years but had reached the end of its working life. The replacement offers improved reliability, comfort and accessibility, with features designed to make journeys easier and more independent for passengers.
The charity said the new minibus would allow many clients to board and leave the vehicle more easily, often without needing assistance, helping to improve confidence and wellbeing.
The vehicle also features an updated version of Newport Cottage Care’s familiar livery, giving it a fresh look while maintaining its recognisable presence in the community.
Vicki Brassington, day care manager at Newport Cottage Care, said: “For many of our clients, this bus is far more than just transport. It is their connection to friendship, activities, support and routine.
“Being able to attend our day care sessions can make an enormous difference to wellbeing and quality of life, particularly for people living with dementia and their families.”
The charity thanked the Newport League of Friends for its support in making the new minibus possible.
The launch comes as Newport Cottage Care also introduces a new charity lottery, with tickets costing £1 a week and offering players the chance to win a weekly jackpot of £25,000.
Funds raised through the lottery will help support the charity’s services, activities, transport and future improvements for elderly people and those living with dementia.
