Celebrities flocked to Instagram to mark the annual holiday.

Celine Dion, Lindsay Lohan and Alan Cumming are among the stars who have paid tribute to their loved ones as they celebrate US Mother’s Day.

Other celebrities who took to Instagram to mark the occasion – which is celebrated in March in the UK – included Billy Ray Cyrus, Reese Witherspoon, Sir David Beckham and Kylie Minogue.

French-Canadian singer Dion paid tribute to her late mother Therese Tanguay-Dion, who died in 2020, and shared a photo of the two at what appears to be a birthday celebration.

She wrote: “Maman, your strength, your tenderness, and your love has shaped who I am. You remain with me… quietly guiding, and so deeply felt in my life and in the lives of your grandchildren.”

The star also named her three children, Rene-Charles, Nelson and Eddy, and said they remind her how “powerful” the love of a mother is.

The My Heart Will Go On singer concluded the post saying: “Today, and always, we honour you.”

US actress Lohan, who rose to fame as a child star and featured in films including cult classic Mean Girls (2004), shared a blurry snap of herself and son Luai on a beach, standing in the sea.

The Hollywood star wrote: “A love deeper than the ocean in front of us. Forever grateful I get to be your mama. Happy Mothers Day.”

The Good Wife star Cumming – also known for hosting the US version of The Traitors – posted a selfie with his mother and wrote: “Lunch with the mater in Scotland, and wishing all American mothers a happy day!”

Country star Cyrus joined the celebrations with a black and white photo on stage performing with one of his daughters.

The father of pop stars Noah and Miley Cyrus wrote: “Happy Mother’s day! This pretty much says it best for us. Be blessed and happy everybody. Good news just around the bend.”

Legally Blonde star Witherspoon wrote that she was “feeling grateful for the women who shaped me” with a carousel of photos featuring her mother and grandmother.

The Hollywood actress also included snaps of her three children, Ava, Deacon and Tennessee, thanking the “three beautiful humans who made me a mum”.

Former footballer Sir David shared a black and white picture of his wife, Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, while she was pregnant and described her as “the best mommy”.

The couple have four children: Romeo, Cruz and Harper and their eldest son Brooklyn, with whom they have an ongoing family feud.

Victoria, nicknamed Posh Spice, reposted the snap on her own page and wrote “I love you”, and shared an image of a bouquet of white roses which she tagged her husband in and wrote: “I love you so much.”

Australian pop star Minogue shared a throwback image of herself and her mother with her 3.3 million followers, which sees the pair smiling with an arm around each other, with matching curly blonde hairdos.

The chart-topping singer wrote “happy Mother’s Day to the BEST” and followed the message with many emojis.

German-American model Heidi Klum shared a snap with her mother, with a caption in German saying “Ich liebe Dich Mutti”, which translates to “I love you mummy”.

Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner shared a lengthy tribute and said how “rewarding and meaningful” it is being a mother to her six children: Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

Singer and dancer JoJo Siwa shared a lengthy tribute to her mother Jessalynn, which featured a carousel of images of the two.

The former Dance Moms star is best known in the UK for appearing on the latest series of ITV’s Celebrity Big Brother, where she met her partner, former Love Island star Chris Hughes.

Siwa wrote that she is thankful to her mother “for everything” and has “no words” to describe her, adding: “I couldn’t imagine a life without her being my mom. I’m lucky that I never have to.”
