Llanafan Show promises packed day of competition, tradition and entertainment

Llanafan Show will return to Llanafan Farm on Saturday, September 19, promising a packed day of competitions, countryside traditions and entertainment for all the family.

This year’s show will once again bring together the local farming community, competitors, families and visitors for a full day of activities.

Horse classes get underway at 11.30am, with sheep judging beginning at 1pm, while the popular companion dog show starts at 12.30pm.

Inside the show shed there will be plenty to see, with classes covering cookery, produce, flowers, garden produce, art and crafts, alongside children’s competitions and rural crafts.

Horticultural entries close at 12.15pm, with judging beginning shortly afterwards and the exhibits opening to the public at 2.30pm.

There is plenty for younger visitors too. Children can enjoy a free indoor play area, while the children’s show classes are free to enter. The ever-popular children’s fancy dress competition will take place at 2.30pm in the main shed.

The afternoon will also feature show jumping, beginning at approximately 1.30pm, with classes ranging from a clear round through to 90cm and above.

This year’s Presidents are Roy and Jayne Jones, formerly of Llanafan Farm, who have been busy supporting the show and its fundraising activities throughout the year.

Llanafan Show continues to thrive thanks to the hard work of its committee and volunteers, together with the tremendous support received from local businesses, sponsors, competitors and the wider community.

The committee hopes that both familiar faces and first-time visitors will go along and enjoy everything this traditional country show has to offer.

Llanafan Show takes place on Saturday, September 19 2026 at Llanafan Farm, LD2 3PN.

Admission is £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s, with payment by cash.

Come along, support your local show and enjoy a great day out in the heart of Mid Wales.

It is a very testing course running over some 800 yards, over 3 fields up to 1000 feet.

The winner of the South Wales Class was Tarcio Michelon who is here from Mexico and is travelling around trials before competing in the World Trial in a few weeks time.

The Winner of the National class was from nearer home, Mr E. L. Morgan or as we all know him - Butch, from Aberystwyth.

The committee are very grateful to Llandre/Builth Wells who made and donated four hurdles also Builth Rotary Club who presented a cheque of £300 which they raised at one of their charity Quizzes.
