Jayden Wareham and Cauley Woodrow netted for the Chairboys.

Wycombe’s impressive run under new boss Tom Hounsell continued as they beat Burton 2-0 at Adams Park.

It’s now just one defeat in nine league games under Hounsell, who took over from Michael Duff in September with the team in 23rd position.

Hounsell, 36, a former Burton caretaker manager, saw Wycombe keep up their march towards the top half with goals from Jayden Wareham in the 21st minute and Cauley Woodrow eight minutes after the break.

Wycombe had the better of the early exchanges, with Malik Mothersille, twice, and Daniel Harvie going close.

All that pressure paid off when Albion defender Jason Sraha passed back to goalkeeper Corey Addai, whose attempted clearance was charged down and into the net by the marauding Wareham – the striker’s sixth goal in nine games since joining Wycombe.

Seconds after half-time, home keeper Conor Hazard stopped Gbemi Arubi’s goalbound shot with his legs.

But Wycombe doubled their lead when Mothersille crossed from the left, Fred Onyedinma’s header was blocked and experienced striker Woodrow followed up to head home from close range.
