Monday’s sport: What’s on and where can I watch?

Cape Verde’s first World Cup match will be against 2010 winners Spain in Atlanta.
European champions Spain begin their 2026 World Cup campaign against tournament debutants and minnows Cape Verde during another bumper day of tournament action.
Saudi Arabia and Uruguay face-off in the other Group H contest and there is also Group G action with Belgium, Egypt, Iran and New Zealand.
After Emma Raducanu finished runner-up at Queen’s Club on Sunday, the men’s edition starts on Monday with Cameron Norrie one of several British players involved.
Here is a guide to what is happening in the sporting world on Monday, and where you can watch all the action in the UK.
Yamal fit for Spain opener

There were fears Lamine Yamal may miss the World Cup when he suffered a hamstring injury in April, but the Barcelona attacker is fit and raring to go for Spain’s Group H opener versus Cape Verde in Atlanta.
Luis de la Fuente has confirmed Yamal is fine to start and Spain have been made joint-favourites for the tournament after their exploits at Euro 2024.
Spain kick-off at 1700 on ITV and it is followed by Saudi Arabia against Uruguay on the same network at 2300 in Miami.
Belgium will face Egypt at 2000 in Seattle on BBC One, which will broadcast Group G encounter Iran versus New Zealand in Los Angeles at 0200.
Round two at Queen’s

Cameron Norrie is one of several British players in first-round action, but faces a tricky tie against fourth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. One home favourite is guaranteed a place in the last 16 with Arthur Fery and Toby Samuel drawn against each other.
Jack Pinnington Jones will also feature in the main draw at Queen’s Club and coverage on BBC Two will begin at 1300, but that is not the only grass-court action in England on Monday.
Up the M1, the Nottingham Open gets under way with Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart set to do battle in round one.
What else is happening?

However, before day one of the second Test on Wednesday, there will be an England talking head at Edgbaston on Monday afternoon and the future of Stokes is likely to be hot on the agenda.
Jordan Cox is another name on the lips of the media after he marked his call-up with a sparkling 204 for Essex against Leicestershire before he was pulled from the County Championship match in a clear indicator he will make a Test debut this week.
Several other County Championship fixtures will conclude on Monday with plenty streamed on YouTube.
