The hosts hit seven against their non-league opponents.

Delighted Bradford boss Michael Duff hailed the intensity levels shown by his side in their 7-0 thrashing of Marine.

Nick Powell scored twice inside the opening 16 minutes before Adam Phillips and Matthew Pennington added two more goals before half-time.

Rampant City stuck three more times after the break through Will Swan, George Lapslie and Phillips after Isaac Abankwah had been sent off as they put their National League North opponents to the sword.

“The first 10 minutes were the part I was most pleased with because there was a real intensity,” said Duff.

“We were still trying to score in the last five minutes and that is another pleasing aspect. Sometimes when you get three or four up against a non-league team it can become like a training session, but it wasn’t like that today.

“We just wanted to get through to the next round and we have done that.

“Marine were trying to get to the first round for their big tie and we will be trying to get to the third round for the same reason.”

Marine manager Bobby Grant felt the defeat highlighted the gulf in class between his part-timers and their League One opponents.

“Credit to Bradford, they were professional and have got some top, top players,” he said.

“They are up at the top end of League One for a reason and my lads didn’t quite get to any levels.

“We started slow and when you give players of that quality time they will hurt you because they are top players.

“We came here to try and cause an upset and failed in that. We can stand here and sulk about it or we can get to the reality of it.

“I had my players for three hours last week and their budget is £11m. It was a great day out for the fans.”
