Marcus Rashford wanted his club future sorted out before he came to the World Cup, but is now fully focused on helping England to glory.

The 28-year-old is in domestic limbo after Barcelona opted not to trigger a £26million transfer despite a successful loan campaign, with the Spanish club instead opting to sign England team-mate Anthony Gordon.

Rashford is currently due to return to parent club Manchester United for pre-season training post-World Cup and the Press Association understands there are no plans to engage with Barca over another loan.

All options are understood to be on the table at this stage and the forward said he would have liked his future to be resolved before joining up with Thomas Tuchel’s men at the start of June.

He has now parked it in order to concentrate on England’s pursuit of the World Cup.

Asked whether being in the England camp was taking his mind off his future, he replied: “No, it’s not why I enjoy my time here.

“Me, as a person, I live in the moment.
I was very clear with everyone involved before the World Cup.

“I wanted it done before, and if not, then I won’t deal with it until after, because I want to fully be present in this moment.

“At the same time, we’re fighting for something. I don’t have energy to be putting into other things.”

Rashford again finds himself in direct competition with Gordon as the pair are battling out for a spot on the left-hand side of Tuchel’s starting XI.

Both men have tended to perform better from the bench with two starts apiece, but Rashford insists their relationship is good.

“For us, it’s the same,” he said. “If one of us is coming off, and the other’s coming on.

“It’s about making an impact and trying to score or create goals, and it’s pretty simple, to be honest.

“We’re all here trying to achieve the same dream and the same outcome. There’s only one way to do it, and that’s together.

“The relationship’s good between me and him, it always has been. I don’t expect that to change.”

Rashford scored in the opening win against Croatia and is hoping to have more of an impact.

“As determined as everyone else,” he said when asked how much he wanted to contribute.

“Everyone wants to have a good World Cup.

“In the end, it’s about doing what you can for the team, and it’s as simple as that. You can ask anyone that question, and they’d all answer the same.”
