Cupra has announced that its Raval electric hatchback has gone on sale with a starting price of £23,785.

The Raval is Cupra’s smallest model and is one of a quartet of affordable new EVs from the Volkswagen Group sitting on the ‘MEB+’ platform, which is shared with the Skoda Epiq, Volkswagen ID.Polo and ID.Cross.

The Raval range kicks off with the entry-level Origin which is hooked up to a 37kWh battery pack with a front-mounted electric motor to produce 113bhp and can travel up to a claimed 186 miles on a single charge.

Move up to the V1 at £26,995 and V2 for £29,580 and power is boosted to 133bhp with the same 37kWh set-up.

The Raval is also available with a larger 52kWh battery pack and an electric motor which produces 207bhp and can do a claimed 280 miles between trips to the plug.

Also, Ravals fitted with the larger battery pack are eligible for the government’s Electric Car Grant, which means customers can save up to £1,500 off their list prices, meaning the V1 52kWh starts at £28,495 and the V2 52kWh comes in at £31,080.

The flagship VZ model uses the same 52kWh battery pack and produces 222bhp from its electric motor, while it boasts an electronic limited-slip differential, larger wheels and Cupra’s ‘Dynamic Chassis Control’, which can alter the car’s shock absorbers depending on which drive mode is selected.

VZ models also receive the £1,500 government grant price cut, which means prices start at £33,495.

The Cupra Raval is available to order now with deliveries expected to commence towards the end of this year.
