Wolves' key players ahead of 2025/26 season

Wolves come into the 2025/26 season having lost some key players this summer.

They are rebuilding the team and are bringing additions in, but a strong spine still remains in Vitor Pereira's squad.

When looking at four key players for the upcoming campaign, it would be easy to consider new signings and speculate on the impact they may have, but instead we have picked out the core of Wolves' squad to look at how important they will be in the top flight.

Jorgen Strand Larsen

The striker netted 14 goals in his debut Premier League season and now comes into the 2025/26 campaign as a permanent Wolves player.

It was a fantastic opening campaign, equalling his best goalscoring efforts in a single season in his career, and sets Larsen up perfectly for more responsibility going forward.

There were some bouts of poor form and also some injuries - alongside an impressive goalscoring run as Wolves were on their winning run - but overall Larsen was excellent.

The Norwegian was the focal point number nine that Wolves were desperate for and he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet moving forward. Particularly following Matheus Cunha's departure, Larsen's goals will be crucial.

Newcastle United are interested in him, but Wolves are unlikely to budge and are desperate to keep the striker.

Andre

One part of an impressive midfield duo, Andre has gone from strength to strength in a Wolves shirt.

As the only real number 6 in the squad, Andre's role is imperative in breaking up the play, turning over possession and getting Wolves on the attack.

There is a reason Italian giants Juventus wanted him this summer and there is a reason Wolves will not sell him, because he is vital to the way Pereira wants to play.

Andre has come a long way from the summer signing that Gary O'Neil could not fit into his team.

Joao Gomes

Perhaps the most important of the lot - although it is a close-run contest - is fellow Brazilian Gomes.

The fan favourite wears his heart on his sleeve, is tough tackling and carries the ball forward with more skill than he is given credit for.

Gomes has always had the talent but he has also improved greatly in the two-and-a-half years he has been at Wolves and he is being closely followed by big clubs for a reason.

Wolves are seeking another midfielder and the quality of that signing is yet to be determined - but as it stands, any injury or suspension to Andre or Gomes would have a huge impact on the team.

Emmanuel Agbadou

Wolves were desperate for an alpha male centre-back signing in January and in Agbadou they found the perfect match.

The Ivorian played a big role in keeping Wolves in the Premier League and now starts the 2025/26 season as a key figure in a revamped defence.

Wolves' backline is stronger now than this time last season and a large part of that is down to Agbadou's influence.

Similar to the midfield issue, the drop in quality if Agbadou was unavailable is a concern, which highlights his importance.
