West Brom seal signing of teenage defender from Liverpool

The youngster has been tipped for a bright future.

Albion have completed the signing of teenage defender Carter Pinnington from Liverpool.

Pinnington has agreed a three-year deal with the Baggies and will initially join the club’s under-21s team.

The 19-year-old England youth international had been part of the Reds’ academy for more than a decade and is viewed as a player with huge potential.

Primarily a centre-back, Pinnington has also played at full-back and as a midfielder and featured on the bench for a first-team match against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

Palace were among the club’s tracking his progress but it is Albion who moved decisively to secure his signature.

Pinnington said: “I’m extremely grateful to be joining Albion.

“I had offers from other clubs, but from the very first conversations I had here, it was clear to me that this was the right place for the next stage of my career and an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“I’m looking forward to getting started, working hard every day, and giving my all every time I put the shirt on.”

Pinnington follows striker Barney Stewart in signing for the Baggies. Stewart, 22, completed a £1.3million move from Falkirk on Wednesday.

Albion are also close to sealing a deal for Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
