The one big reason AFC Telford boss is confident of play-off triumph

Kevin Wilkin has revealed the one trait his side have shown him that makes him confident of success in this afternoon’s play-off final.

AFC Telford United have endured another up and down season in the Southern Central Premier League, and for the second season in a row their fate will be decided by the play-offs.

However, the Bucks boss explained why one quality his side have shown time and time again this term is keeping him quietly confident ahead of their clash with Kettering Town today.

“I know that this team will keep digging deep and will show a resilience that won’t let it be beaten easily,” Wilkin said. “It finds a way on most occasions to get through games, certainly at home, and now we need to show that little bit extra away from home.”

He added: “I don’t know if there is one thing to be honest with you but looking at how the lads have been trying to bond together on and off the pitch over a period of time now has been pleasing.”

Wilkin also discussed the Bucks’ away form leading into the final, which has seen them draw six consecutive games on the road since January.

“We know we can go and get results on the road, we’re confident in ourselves as a group, and we know we’re going to have to be at our very best on Monday to win the game,” he said. “We proved that for the sake of a minute or two we would have won that game at Kettering, and now we need to go there on the day and be the team that adapts and comes away with a victory.

“At this stage of the season you need that little bit of fortune, and if we get that hopefully we can be successful.”
