Their win, coupled with title rivals Rhayader Town Reserves being held to a 1-1 draw at Llandrindod Wells Reserves, meant the title was theirs.

Following a goalless opening 45 minutes at Forest Road, largely due to an excellent performance from Marshall Jones in the Daffs' goal, the Saints broke the deadlock through Darren Horrigan, after a 57th minute corner was only partially cleared by the visitors’ defence.

Former Builth Wells forward Dave Thomas doubled the advantage three minutes later from close-range after Llanidloes Town Reserves failed to clear another corner from their penalty area.

The league's top scorer, Ricky Lynes, netted his first goal of the evening when he latched on to a well-timed 69th minute pass from Horrigan before coolly finishing past Jones.

Taylor Maddy broke down the right flank four minutes after the restart and his low cross converted at the far post by Lynes.

The Saints striker netted his 30th goal of the league campaign from a Charlie Ward cross, and completed his personal treble in the process.

He scored with four minutes of normal time remaining to put the icing on the cake and start the celebrations amongst the home supporters.

Hay St Mary's went on to conclude their league fixtures three days later with a 6-2 victory at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

Lynes added another hat-trick to his league tally and was joined on the scoresheet at the Broadway by a Ward double and a goal from Maddy to complete a successful campaign for the Forest Road club.

Elsewhere in the league, Llanidloes Town Reserves were beaten 3-1 at home to Brecon on Saturday, while Penybont United and Builth Wells Reserves played out a 2-2 draw.

In the MMP Central Wales League, Flostrasol have been crowned champions as they finished three points ahead of Lampeter Town.

The former won their last game of the season 11-1 to finished narrowly ahead of the second placed side, as they lost just one game all season.

Rhayader Town finish 15 points further back as they ended their campaign on Saturday with a victory.

They won 5-0 at home to Bont. Dan Hall handed them the lead in the game on the half hour mark - with Rhys Thomas doubling their advantage in the second half.

In the final 15 minutes of the game, Hall then added his second, before Thomas also added another goal for his brace.

And then Tom Price got in on the act five minutes from time to end the season in style.

Elsewhere, Kerry Reserves also hit five as they beat Llanilar 5-1.

Kacper Napierala scored a first half hat-trick with Kerry going on to score two more in the second half.

That result meant they finished two places off the bottom of the table - which was a position held by Abersystwyth Town Development.

They picked up just two wins all season as they ended bottom with six points.

For Llanidloes Town, the former Cymru North club ended in ninth, a position they will be looking to build on for next season.

And it was a strong finish for Penrhyncoch Reserves, who lost just one of their last seven games to finish in fourth.
