Former Wolves boss reportedly turns down Burnley job

Former Wolves boss Rob Edwards has turned down the Burnley job, reports have suggested.

The 43-year-old was sacked by Wolves earlier this month, as the club replaced him with Cesar Peixoto.

It came as a shock to the former Wolves defender, who found out about plans to replace him via social media reports before being sacked the following morning over the phone while he was on a family holiday.

Some senior staff at Wolves were also unaware of the plans to replace Edwards with Peixoto before it leaked, as club chairman Nathan Shi and owners Fosun made the decision, as they worked with agent Jorge Mendes to get a deal done for Peixoto.

Burnley were reportedly close to appointing Wales boss Craig Bellamy but turned to Edwards once that move fell apart.

Reports have now suggested that Edwards was approached by Burnley over their vacant managerial job, but he has turned down the chance at an instant return to the dugout.
