James Morrison has tipped West Brom star for a Premier League future

Isaac Price has enjoying a flying start to the new campaign.

James Morrison sees a Premier League player-in-waiting in Albion star Isaac Price - and joked ‘he’s even good looking and tall as well!’

Price, 22, has shone in the opening weeks of the new campaign in Morrison’s exciting Baggies side and fired a brace in the last two games against Burnley and Newcastle this week.

Morrison sees the Northern Ireland star as getting better as the months go by and believes Price has a top-flight future.

The head coach quipped in midweek that Albion had hoped to ‘hide’ the influential attacker at Newcastle’s St James’ Park - and the Express & Star revealed the club are in new bumper, long-term contract talks.

Asked if he sees Price playing Premier League football one day, Morrison said on Friday: “Yes, I really do, yes.

“I've seen his attributes. I think each time he plays, over recent months, he's just got better and better. I think that we've found a position and a responsibility from him improving, and long may it continue for the club.”

Price fired nine goals last season in his first full campaign at The Hawthorns. He endured some setbacks but flourished in the final months of the campaign as Albion powered to Championship safety under Morrison.

The nadir last term for the ex-Everton youngster was a frustrated interaction with angry away fans after a humiliating 3-0 defeat at lowly Portsmouth under Eric Ramsay in January.

The Northern Irishman, who cost £2.5million in January 2025, has been challenged to beat last season’s goal tally this term and is already on his way.

Price has shown his technical ability but is particularly popular with his head coach due to his work without the ball.

“I mean, one thing's his quality, but obviously his work rate matches that,” Morrison added.

“And his availability, like I've said, he's always there. He's even good-looking and tall as well, isn't he? He's got it all at his feet.

“But he's just got to remain focused, really. Work and don't get carried away.”

Price impressed during pre-season friendlies and Morrison believes the general mood among the group is helping the left-sided attacker.

“I think it's a good sign that he's enjoying his football, and he's enjoying being at the club,” the boss said. “I think we've got a good group, and I think he likes what we're trying to do. So all those things fall into place that will help the player.”
