Attacker Bray, 18, announced himself to the club last week as Albion's under-21s downed youngsters from Italian giants Juventus 4-2 at The Hawthorns with first team boss Ryan Mason watching on.

Bray, who can play as an attacking midfielder or lead the line, was a summer recruit from Harrogate Town after catching the eye against the Baggies' under-18s last term.

He scored the second and third goals as Leigh Downing's youngsters took the International Cup tie away from their continental visitors and Downing, Albion's new under-21s boss, revealed the Barnsley-born youngster has been "itching" to impress.

"He's one that has been sort of itching for that goal," Downing told the Express & Star. "He's had a few chances and come off the pitch frustrated at times.

"But I thought against Juventus he's shown what he's about in front of goal. Hopefully he'll score many more for us this season."

Bray, who turns 19 in February, made his senior debut for League Two Harrogate last term but turned down advances from his former club during the summer, when Albion came calling with a deal.

Downing added: "He can drop off and receive the ball in the spaces and get on the turn.

"But then he also likes to get his ball back to goal and try and front face. He's very good at moving those defenders to then create chances for himself. He's a good finisher. He's an intelligent footballer, he understands the game.

"He's one that hopefully this season can show all the people at the club what he's about - and then we'll see where he can take that."

Bray was one of three summer recruits made by Albion's under-21s from clubs lower down the ranks or released from above.

Fellow attacker Torin Ntege was brought in from Peterborough United and goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo, formerly of Arsenal, agreed a deal after impressing as a trialist.
