'If price is right': What Falkirk manager has said about star Barney Stewart amid West Brom interest

The Scotland under 21 international has been the subject of a reported bid from West Brom.

Albion have been linked with players already in the window - but there have been strong around a rejected seven figure bid for Falkirk striker Barney Stewart.

The 22-year-old, who was playing university football just two years ago, signed for Falkirk in 2022 and has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for the SPL side.

The London born forward netted eight goals on loan at Dunfermline earlier in the season - before returning and lighting up the SPL.

He netted ten times in the second half of the season - and his form has led to him being linked with a most of clubs, including Albion.

Celtic are also said to be keen - but reports in Scotland in recent days claim Albion have had a number of bids knocked back.

And Falkirk manager John McGlynn has been asked about the bids and interest.

He told the Falkirk Herald that the bids they have received have been ‘fair’, but he will only be sold if the Price is right.

Asked if Stewart will depart this summer, he said: “If the price is right.

“We’ve had fair offers from two or three clubs for Barney. It’s very early yet so we don’t feel any rush because other offers might come in.

“If we were to get a certain amount of money for Barney, it would go on a grass park and we need training facilities which is where some of that money will go to.

“I’d still expect more offers. Whether it’s enough for the board to accept I’m not sure.”
