West Brom hot prospect who starred against Liverpool rewarded with first professional contract
The youngster has burst onto the scene with the the club’s PL2 side.
One of Albion’s hottest young prospects has been rewarded with his first professional contract - following an impressive breakthrough campaign.
Teenager Remar McNeil, who joined Albion at a young age following a trial with Villa, has risen up the ranks in the club’s academy.
At the age of just 16 he made his way into Albion’s PL2 side this season and had a big impact.
Across the course of the campaign he netted three times and picked up three assists in eleven appearances - putting in some eye catching performances.
McNeil, now 17, set up two goals on his first start for the under 21 side against Liverpool and netted a brace in a 4-2 victory over Derby County.
The Dudley born winger, who joined the club at the age of seven, has been rewarded with his first professional deal, a two year contract running to the summer of 2028.
Albion academy manager Richard Stevens is a reward for the level of quality he has shown this season.

The academy boss also insists that McNeil will only continue to get better at the club.
He said: “When you look at Remar’s season, it’s only right to reward that level of quality with this contract.
“He’s been in the Academy from a very early age and has been a really eye-catching player during my time at the club.
“He’s had some hurdles and some really good challenges along the way, but he's overcome them during his academy journey and that's allowed him to grasp these opportunities in the under-21s.
“It showed, too, as he stayed in the team and didn’t come out of it. That’s testimony to the effort he’s put in because he’s a very humble lad and has always supported the boys - even when out injured, Remar was always there, home and away, backing the rest of his team-mates.
“We set out to offer these lads early professional contracts and early exposure to those higher age groups. In finding those experiences, the lads have shown a togetherness, spirit, and a culture to go and get some really impressive wins with their age groups.
“He has the chance to grow a really nice career at Albion and I only see Remar flourishing in this environment and getting better with time."
